Study Shows Resveratrol To Be An Efficient Traditional HRT Replacement
A new study has shown that resveratrol can be the alternative to Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) that is used extensively in the treatment of menopausal symptoms but that is also attributed with dire side effects like breast cancer and cardiovascular diseases. Resveratrol is already linked to benefits like high energy levels and enhanced muscle strength.
Other benefits of resveratrol consumption include protection against degenerative diseases, enhanced heart and kidney function, protection against several types of cancers and also longevity.
Now, there is just another reason to welcome resveratrol as a part of our daily diet. The study, reported in the Journal of Nutritional Biochemistry, aimed to compare effectiveness of resveratrol with that of genistein, glystein and daidzein – which are soy-derivatives and known natural treatments for menopause symptoms.
It is reported that resveratrol not only is more potent than others in its proapoptotic (killing tumor cells) ability, it also shows no side-effects that manifest with the use of estrogens and progestin in HRT. The research findings may well revolutionize the natural treatments available for women suffering from the symptoms of menopause.
Traditional remedies for alleviating menopause symptoms range from the natural home-made therapies with ingredients like red clover and soy or their supplements to Hormone Replacement Therapy. However, there has always been a dilemma inherent in the use of either the natural therapies or HRT.
The Hormone Replacement Therapy that is the most popular estrogen based treatment for menopausal symptoms, has been found to carry the risks of increased chances of stroke, heart disease, blood clots and breast cancer. Alternate natural therapies, though having no apparent debilitating side-effects may be lacking in efficacy.
The natural remedies have been repeatedly reported as being alternate solutions with no side-effects, but the latest study makes the plant chemicalresveratrol take head on with HRT. What is more, resveratrol is available in foods and drinks that may already be a part of our normal diet. For example, red grapes, grape skins, grape juice and red wine are rich sources of resveratrol.
Additionally, there are numerous resveratrol supplements already available in the market that people can start on. These supplements are convenient to store and easy to use. The findings about resveratrol may finally mean deliverance for innumerable women who suffer from symptoms like hot flashes or vaginal dryness or who are at a higher risk for osteoporosis due to low estrogen levels.
With resveratrol, not only the side effects related with HRT are non-existent, there are added advantages of enhanced energy levels, longevity and protection against numerous diseases.
